TOEFL - TEST OF ENGLISH AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE

The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is used to measure English language proficiency. The TOEFL iBT® test, administered via the Internet, is an important part of your journey to study in an English-speaking country. In addition to the test, the ETS TOEFL Program provides tools and guides to help you prepare for the test and improve your English-language skills.

What is The TOEFL Test (Full Information)

The TOEFL iBT exam assesses your English proficiency at a university level, examining your capacity to use and comprehend English effectively. It gauges how well you can integrate listening, reading, speaking, and writing skills to complete academic tasks. This comprehensive assessment combines up to three distinct communication skills to evaluate students’ English language abilities

Types of TOEFL

  • TOEFL iBT (Internet-Based Test): This is the most common version of the TOEFL and is administered online. It evaluates your skills in reading, listening, speaking, and writing English in an academic context.

  • TOEFL PBT (Paper-Based Test): Although less common, this version is still available in some areas where the internet-based test is not accessible. It measures the same skills as the iBT but uses a paper format.

It’s important to check the specific TOEFL requirements of the institution or program you are applying to, as score requirements can vary. Additionally, keep in mind that while TOEFL is widely accepted, some institutions may also accept other English proficiency tests, such as the IELTS (International English Language Testing System).
